The handle depicts Fujin and Raijin — the Wind God and Thunder God of Japanese mythology — rendered in gold, white, and color detail against a deep black lacquer ground, with a gold tomoe crest at the center. The imagery draws from one of the most celebrated motifs in Japanese art, translated here into a handle that is as striking to look at as the knife is to use. Part of the Washin Saido series. Made in Japan.
